Railpark Industries SA is the owner of a multi-hectares south facing unoccupied land located in Arlon. Forward thinking on adding long-term value to its land, the company commissioned Perpetum Energy for the investing, building and operation of a 1MWp solar installation. The system is now in service.
The 3.700 panels, inclined at 25 deg and occupying an overall area of 1,7 ha, produce 1 GWh of electricity per year. This is the equivalent of the average yearly consumption of 442 families. The installation also avoids the emission of 476 Tons of CO2 per year.
The project has required an investment of 1,045 million euros. The particularity of the financing of this project is that 300.000€ were levied by citizens through a crowd-lending scheme on www.ecconova.com. Every citizen could lend up to 5.000€ for 10 years in a preferentIal fiscal framework.
In addition, 25% of the profit made by the company bearing by the project is donated to a non-profit organisation.
A green energy project financed for one-third by citizens, helping leveraging the projects of great non-profit organisations.
The official inauguration of the project is scheduled for June 22 at 2pm. The event will be enhanced by the presence of Federal Minister Francois Bellot, Wallonia Minister Jean-Luc Crucke and the Mayor of Arlon, Mr Vincent Magnus.
